14 jun 2006 - On Friday we fly back to the Netherlands, so this week were rounding things off and saying our good-byes. Im concluding conversations with Calvin Theological Seminary about cooperation on a project for teaching preaching in Eastern Europe, and it looks promising.

07 jun 2006 - Americans give more to charity than any other people in the world, and the people of Grand Rapids and Western Michigan are the most open handed of all Americans in giving. This has much to do with their Reformed background, with the Kuyperian notion that everything one is and has is from God and belongs to Him.

24 mei 2006 - Living in and traveling through America now, I have to say that the differences amongst churches are smaller than I had expected. I have experienced church services in various parts of America-Reformed services of all sorts and styles, various Baptist congregations, and a Methodist Church.

17 mei 2006 - At first I thought it was just a polite nicety. But the longer we're here, the more I'm discovering that people really mean it when they say thank you. People say thanks to you often and sincerely.

10 mei 2006 - We've gotten used to it by now, but the first few times we wondered what was going on. Here in Grand Rapids it seems like whenever you meet someone they start talking about their church. The neighbor who comes over to introduce herself, the cashier at the mega-store, the students at Calvin Seminary-they all ask where you go to church.

03 mei 2006 - Een hartelijke groet van alle 'Nederlanders' hier in Michigan. En dat zijn er nogal wat. Ik loop nu zo'n twee weken hier rond in Grand Rapids en waar ik ook kom, ik kan er met de meeste mensen een paar woorden Nederlands spreken. Laat me vertellen hoe dat gaat.
